Namwon City in Jeollabuk-do announced on the 1st that it will implement a "Comprehensive Public Safety Plan for the Lunar New Year Holiday" from the 9th to the 12th.
The city has established a comprehensive situation room to ensure 24-hour thorough situation management and disaster prevention activities, and will make every effort to take prompt action in case of incidents.
First, to ensure that vulnerable groups in the community, such as elderly people living alone, are not neglected during the holiday period, a focused care period for vulnerable groups will be operated centered on the heads of eup, myeon, and dong (township and neighborhood offices). The eup, myeon, and dong heads will visit the marginalized groups directly to share the warmth of the holiday season.
To revitalize traditional markets, a campaign encouraging the use of traditional markets for the Lunar New Year will be conducted to promote consumption, and policies to invigorate the local economy through the purchase and promotion of Namwon Love Gift Certificates will also be implemented.
To create a happy and sharing holiday atmosphere, public officials will take the lead in helping neighbors in need, visiting social welfare facilities, and conducting volunteer activities, playing a leading role in spreading a culture of sharing.
To ensure price stability for everyday goods, 16 key items in agriculture, livestock, and fisheries will be selected for focused management, and measures to stabilize prices of popular Lunar New Year products will be implemented.
To this end, Namwon City has formed a joint public-private special price guidance and inspection team, conducting on-site monitoring and guidance inspections.
To ensure smooth traffic flow during the holiday period, a traffic field enforcement team will be organized and operated. Accordingly, traffic control personnel will be deployed at major congestion points such as terminals, and public parking lots will be opened and operated to provide maximum convenience to returning visitors and citizens.
Additionally, during the holiday period, 50 additional express bus trips (Seoul⇔Namwon) will be operated, and temporary trains will run 3 additional trips per day in both directions to expand transportation capacity.
To avoid inconvenience in emergency medical treatment for patients occurring during the holiday, an emergency medical plan has been established, designating emergency medical institutions (Namwon Medical Center), health centers, health clinics, and on-duty pharmacies for operation.
In case of emergency patients, inquiries can be made to the 119 Ambulance Situation Management Center or the health center for detailed guidance.
