This year marks the 6th session of the training program. Eight outstanding students, including Kim Chae-young from the customized employment class for local industries (Pellia Hair, Lee Chul Hair Kuker, Dr. Foret) under the 2023 Specialized College Innovation Support Project, were selected. The university supported each student with approximately 4 million KRW for an 11-night, 12-day overseas training.
During the training, students completed the ABC Cutting Course at Vidal Sassoon Academy, where they practiced cutting hair on actual models to maximize their practical skills.
Located in the heart of London, the Vidal Sassoon Academy is one of the most globally recognized and prestigious hairdressing schools, regarded as a sacred place for hair designers worldwide.
Kim Chae-young, a participant in this training, said, “This training gave me the experience of cutting hair from various ethnicities,” adding, “It was an opportunity to boost not only my confidence in cutting but also my pride in hairdressing.”
Kim Nam-hee, head of the Hair Beauty Department, stated, “At the Vidal Sassoon Academy in the UK, all classes are conducted with real models just like in a hair salon, which greatly helps strengthen students’ practical skills. It is a place every beauty major wants to attend,” and added, “By providing this excellent opportunity through university scholarships, we expect it will greatly help students build their global competencies.”
The Hair Beauty Department at Dong-Eui Institute of Technology operates various overseas beauty experience programs in cooperation with local hair salons to enhance students’ employment capabilities and revitalize regional specialized colleges.
