Signing of Investment Agreement with Geonwoo Enterprise
Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Lee Sang-cheol) announced on the 29th that it signed an investment agreement (MOU) worth 7.2 billion KRW with the steel structure manufacturing company ‘Geonwoo Enterprise’.
Through this investment agreement, Geonwoo Enterprise will receive administrative support from Gokseong-gun and Jeollanam-do, and Gokseong-gun expects to strengthen the region’s industrial competitiveness and create jobs.
Geonwoo Enterprise is a steel manufacturing company that plans to expand its factory located in the Gyeommyeon Industrial Complex, which is currently in operation, due to the recent increase in demand for bridge and construction reinforcements, and to expand production of pedestrian overpasses, steel bridges, and steel structures.
The new factory is scheduled to begin construction in March 2024 and be completed by June 2026, and it is expected to create more than 20 new jobs upon completion.
Kim Jeong-hyeok, CEO of Geonwoo Enterprise, said, “Along with expanding the factory size, we will continuously invest to enhance our technological capabilities and become the leading company nationwide that coexists with the local community.”
Governor Lee Sang-cheol said, “This investment attraction is expected to generate job creation and employment effects, greatly contributing to revitalizing the local economy, and we will continue to provide support to make this city a good place for businesses.”
The ‘Gyeommyeon Industrial Complex’ is considered a highly preferred area for companies due to its optimal location with convenient transportation and proximity to ports, which reduces logistics costs, as well as excellent infrastructure. Currently, similar steel manufacturing companies are clustered there.
Gokseong-gun is transforming into a business-friendly city by revising investment support systems and expanding support to attract companies within the region.
