4-Star Hotel Hyatt Place Confirmed for Honam-dong Area
Global Hotel Brand 'Hyatt' Aims for Completion by December 2027
Mokpo City in Jeollanam-do held a tourism hotel attraction agreement ceremony on the 31st of last month at the city hall situation room, together with Hyatt, a hotel brand with a global chain, and the developer Pas Co., Ltd., to build a stay-type tourism city.
According to the city on the 1st, Pas Co., Ltd., the hotel construction developer, and the Hyatt hotel group have confirmed the attraction of Hyatt Place Mokpo Honam-dong, a 4-star hotel with about 170 rooms, and the project is underway with the goal of completion in December 2027.
The Hyatt hotel to be built this time will include top-class facilities such as a large convention center capable of hosting various seminars and weddings, a swimming pool, fitness center, buffet restaurant, and rooftop bar.

Currently, Mokpo City's tourism hotels consist of three 3-star hotels and two 1-star hotels with a total of about 390 rooms, and there are no high-end accommodations of 4-star or higher, making the quality and quantity of lodging facilities significantly insufficient compared to nearby Yeosu and Suncheon.
With this opportunity, if the globally renowned Hyatt enters Mokpo, it is expected to provide further momentum to Mokpo City, which dreams of becoming an international stay-type marine tourism city.
In addition, Mokpo Station, where the Hyatt hotel will be located, is expected to become a stay-type tourism city attracting many tourists, as the Namhae Express Railway and the second phase of the Honam High-Speed Railway project are planned. Tourist facilities such as the marine cable car and Peace Plaza are also being reexamined, and a surge in tourists is anticipated.
The Hyatt hotel group also chose Mokpo City because it is a representative tourism city in South Korea gaining attention by developing tourism resources targeting young people recently, and the area where the hotel will be located is expected to become a transportation, cultural, and living environment hub, with the station area comprehensive development project underway and nearby modern historical cultural spaces, Mokpo Passenger Terminal, and Mokpo MBC.
This Hyatt hotel construction will be the fifth in domestic regions following Seoul, Busan, Incheon, and Jeju, and the sixth under the Hyatt brand.
Once completed, it will serve as a landmark and a major tourism resource for Mokpo City, revitalizing the deteriorated old downtown and greatly contributing to regional economic revitalization through the development of the tourism industry.
