Jindo County Fisheries Cooperative Opens 'Local Agricultural Products Complex Participation Center'

Affordable Prices Through Direct Trade, Providing Fresh Agricultural and Marine Products

Jindo County Fisheries Cooperative's Local Agricultural Products Complex Participation Center (Local Food Complex Community Center) held its opening ceremony on the 30th of last month in the Dongwoe-ri area of Jindo County, Jeollanam-do.

According to the county on the 1st, about 300 people attended the opening ceremony, including County Governor Kim Hee-su, Jindo County Council Chairman Jang Young-woo, Provincial Assemblyman Kim In-jeong, heads of institutions and social organizations, and Fisheries Cooperative officials.

The Local Agricultural Products Complex Participation Center was built with a total project cost of 13.1 billion KRW to improve the distribution system of agricultural and marine products and secure stable sales channels. It is located on a site on Dongwoe 1-gil in Jindo-eup, with a total area of 5,642㎡, consisting of one basement floor and three above-ground floors.

The first floor store includes a butcher shop and bakery to sell local agricultural and marine products and satisfy various consumer demands. The second floor houses sales facilities, a food court, cafes, and other consumer convenience facilities.

Additionally, the third floor features a large conference room and offices for local recipients to communicate and exchange information, as well as a parking lot.

To celebrate the opening day, visitors were given portable shopping baskets, and various prize draws were held to enhance the festive atmosphere.

A local resident who visited the store said, “It’s great that I can buy fresh and diverse agricultural and marine products at affordable prices, so I don’t think I need to go all the way to large marts in Mokpo,” adding, “It’s really nice to have a large local agricultural products sales center close to home.”

County Governor Kim Hee-su stated, “Through the Jindo County Fisheries Cooperative Local Agricultural Products Complex Participation Center, we expect to promote excellent local agricultural and marine products nationwide, creating a stable income base for local farmers and fishermen and playing a significant role in the regional economy.” He added, “In particular, I hope this will become a model case of coexistence by establishing a distribution system where producers and consumers can directly trade and purchase products at affordable prices.”
