Russian Developers Optimize Dating with AI
From Proposals to Wedding Plans, Entrusting AI
A programmer who interacted with 5,239 women through OpenAI's generative AI chatbot 'ChatGPT' and eventually succeeded in marriage has become a hot topic. Remarkably, this man entrusted ChatGPT with everything from the first date request to marriage plans and the proposal.
Alexander Zadan, a product manager at a software company in Russia, shared his story of successfully getting married on the 30th of last month (local time) via 'X'. Surprisingly, his secret was not in self-management or unique charm. Zadan optimized human relationships through an algorithm he personally developed with ChatGPT to date.

The so-called 'Zadan Date Bot' he created started as a joke. He developed a simple algorithm to filter decent women on the global matching app 'Tinder'. Tinder works by swiping right if you like the photo of the opposite sex on the smartphone screen, left if you don't, and up if you really like them. Zadan made a program that automatically filtered 'trustworthy' profiles among the women he liked.
Meanwhile, with the release of ChatGPT's API, AI chatbots could be applied to other applications (apps) like Tinder. Zadan thought it would be convenient to have ChatGPT chat with matched partners on his behalf, so he immediately started working on it. As a result, he was able to interact with as many as 5,239 women in a short period.
The ChatGPT trained on Zadan's personal information, called the 'Zadan Bot', was much more eloquent than the real Zadan. It knew how to choose conversation topics that would interest the other party and could highlight Zadan's strengths more effectively. Eventually, Zadan went on a real date with a woman named Karina, whom ChatGPT selected from among 5,239 potential partners, and the two fell in love and even set a marriage promise.
Zadan reportedly received help from ChatGPT even when enjoying actual dates with Karina. ChatGPT provided marriage counseling to Zadan and helped select the proposal location. When Zadan was busy with work, ChatGPT even exchanged messages with Karina on his behalf.
Zadan was a competent computer engineer but had almost no talent for dating women. He confessed on X, "My Tinder dates always ended in failure," and said, "So I decided to let ChatGPT talk to women for me."
The Zadan Bot project took about 120 hours of development and cost a total of $1,432 (approximately 1.91 million KRW). However, Zadan emphasized, "If I had talked to women directly, I would have spent much more money and energy than with the chatbot." Zadan's story posted on X recorded 5.5 million views in just one day.
