The Metropolitan Area Wide-area Transportation Committee (MAWTC) under the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport proposed on the 24th a plan to extend Seoul Subway Line 5 through Incheon Geomdan New Town to the Gimpo Hangang 2 Public Housing District as an adjustment plan, and announced the ‘Three Major Innovation Strategies in the Transportation Sector’ the following day on the 25th. This announcement centers on extending the existing GTX A, B, and C lines and establishing new D, E, and F lines to usher in a nationwide GTX era.
The newly established GTX-D Y-shaped line is planned to split into branches from Incheon Airport to Cheongna to Gajeong, and from Gimpo to Geomdan to Gyeyang, meeting on the Daejang?Seoul Samsung section. Once GTX-D opens, commuting from Incheon Geomdan and Cheongna to Seoul Samsung is expected to take 30 minutes, and from Incheon Yeongjong to Seoul Samsung about 40 minutes.
Due to consecutive transportation benefits in Geomdan New Town, interest has focused on real estate around the newly established stations. To revitalize the commercial district, the ‘Geomdan New Town Nextiel Complex Cultural Commercial Facility’ plans to introduce seven essential development facilities including bookstores, cultural centers, multiplex cinemas, kids’ zones, sports, and healthcare.
In fact, last October, the developer Next V City PFV signed MOUs for key facilities. To activate the sports theme park, a formal business partnership agreement (MOU) was signed with Inport, which is reviewing the operation of 10 sports content facilities such as indoor tennis, Pilates, and golf practice ranges.
Additionally, to promote the multi-cultural space (cultural content), a business partnership agreement (MOU) was signed with NHN Link, and they are reviewing the management and operation of various programs that people of all ages can enjoy, including kids and parents in their 30s and 40s.
Besides the sports theme park and multi-cultural space (cultural center), Lotte Cultureworks, the operator of Lotte Cinema, has also submitted a letter of intent to move in, raising expectations for the completion of the ‘Geomdan New Town Nextiel Complex Cultural Commercial Facility.’

Furthermore, rental care services will support lease management for some owners and actively attract promising local businesses to build and revitalize the MD (merchandising).
