4·16 Democratic Citizenship Education Center 'People of That Day, Stories of Today' Exhibition Poster
On the 10th anniversary of the April 16 Sewol Ferry disaster, works created and painted by survivors and families of the victims at the time of the tragedy will be exhibited nationwide.
The April 16 Democratic Citizenship Education Center announced on the 1st that it will hold an exhibition titled "People of That Day, Stories of Today" from February to April at the Education Center, Bupyeong Cultural Foundation, Jeju Arts Center, and other locations.
This exhibition is a joint project of the Sewol Ferry General Victims Memorial Hall, the April 16 Foundation, and the April 16 Sewol Ferry Disaster Families Association. It was planned to transform the pain and healing from the disaster into artworks, aiming for a better and safer society.
Seven survivors from Jeju and 14 families of victims from Danwon High School participated, exhibiting 63 works created in various forms such as paintings, clothing, glass and leather crafts, and installation sculptures.
Jeon Myung-sun, director of the April 16 Democratic Citizenship Education Center, said, "The works created together by survivors and families of the victims will be exhibited nationwide in Incheon, Ansan, Jeju, and other locations," adding, "We will strive to form a social consensus that all citizens should remember."
