Yangcheon-gu Implements 'Seol Minsheng Comprehensive Measures'... 119 Emergency Personnel in 5 Teams on Standby

Yangcheon-gu (District Mayor Lee Gi-jae) announced that it will implement the "2024 Lunar New Year Comprehensive Plan" to ensure that residents can spend the Lunar New Year holiday safely and warmly.

The district has established measures in five key areas: ▲Safety ▲Sharing ▲Traffic ▲Living & Prices ▲Establishment of Public Service Discipline, and will operate a 24-hour comprehensive situation room for six days from February 8 to February 13 to prepare for emergencies during the holiday period. To this end, task forces for traffic, cleaning, snow removal, parks, and medical services will be formed, deploying a total of 119 employees to maintain an emergency duty system.

Safe Lunar New Year Holiday through Emergency Response and Emergency Medical Support System Activation and Safety Inspections

The district operates a permanent "Cold Wave Situation Management TF" to establish a rapid cold wave response system. When a cold wave advisory is issued, the "Cold Wave Comprehensive Support Situation Room" will be activated to thoroughly protect vulnerable groups and manage facilities. In addition, in preparation for snowfall during the holiday, snow removal salt and de-icing agents will be replenished on main and side roads within the area, and various snow removal equipment will be inspected. Furthermore, a 24-hour snow removal task force situation room will be operated to ensure that emergency duty and snow removal work proceed smoothly in stages.

Moreover, 15 traditional markets expected to attract large crowds during the Lunar New Year peak season will be inspected with a focus on the management status of electricity, gas, heating devices, and fire safety facilities to create a safe usage environment. In addition, preemptive safety inspections will be conducted on 41 high-risk locations such as gas filling stations and multi-use facilities, as well as on over 400 facilities including vacant houses and apartment complexes in construction and development zones, retaining walls, and parks to proactively eliminate risk factors.

To prepare for emergency medical situations during the holiday, an emergency medical task force led by the public health center will be established and operated. In case of emergencies, a joint response system will be maintained in coordination with the Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Central Emergency Medical Task Force Situation Room, enabling real-time situation management. Additionally, hospitals, clinics, and pharmacies open during the holiday will be designated and operated, and a 24-hour emergency medical response system will be established in cooperation with Ewha Mokdong Hospital, a regional emergency medical center, and local emergency medical institutions such as Hongik Hospital and Seonam Hospital. An epidemiological investigation and quarantine task force will also be operated to prevent infectious diseases.

A Warm Lunar New Year Sharing Abundance with Neighbors

To ensure that vulnerable groups and neighbors outside the formal system can spend a generous and warm holiday, abundant sharing activities will be carried out. First, to spread a culture of giving that multiplies happiness the more you share, a "Donation Sharing Campaign" involving members from all walks of life will be promoted until February 26. Collected items will be delivered to marginalized groups through the Yangcheon-gu Food Bank and Market Center.

During the holiday, to ensure that children do not go hungry, 70 children at risk of food insecurity will receive pre-delivered "Together We Share Lunchboxes (Holiday Kit Boxes)" consisting of four days' worth of meals including substitute holidays and holiday snacks. Approximately 12,000 low-income households, including basic livelihood security recipients and low-income disabled residents, will receive holiday consolation money (or goods). Furthermore, daily necessities such as rice and fruit will be delivered to 157 senior welfare facilities and 34 facilities for the disabled, and Onnuri gift certificates will be provided to nine veterans' organizations for families who have devoted themselves to the country.

Living Measures Including Traffic, Cleaning, and Prices for a Comfortable Lunar New Year Holiday

To ensure smooth traffic guidance during the holiday, a traffic countermeasure situation room will be operated, maintaining communication with the Seoul Metropolitan Government’s traffic countermeasure situation room. In addition, to prevent public transportation accidents, pre-inspections have been completed on about 30 village buses in the district. From February 8 to 13, special guidance and crackdowns on illegal parking and stopping will be conducted, focusing on traffic vulnerable areas such as department stores, subway stations, and village bus routes. For returning visitors, as public transportation last train times will be extended on February 10 and 11, information on special traffic measures such as late-night buses and taxi operations will be actively promoted on the district office and community center websites.

Thorough cleaning measures have also been prepared for a clean holiday. Household waste disposed of before the holiday will be fully collected on February 8 and taken to resource recovery facilities for processing. Publicity will be conducted to discourage waste disposal on February 9 and 10, when intake is suspended, and waste disposal days by neighborhood will be announced. During the holiday, a cleaning task force and patrol mobile team consisting of about 20 members will be organized to promptly collect street cleaning and accumulated waste, minimizing inconvenience to residents. In addition, prices of Lunar New Year ritual items and daily necessities will be surveyed, and unfair trade practices such as hoarding will be intensively managed to ensure price stability.

Lee Gi-jae, Mayor of Yangcheon-gu, said, "We will faithfully implement measures in each area so that returning visitors, citizens, and visitors can all have a safe and comfortable holiday during the Lunar New Year."
