Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) announced on the 31st that it will promote the "Solitary Death Belongings Cleanup Project" to ensure that the lives of single-person households who died in social isolation are properly concluded.
This project aims to clean up the death scenes of solitary death single-person households to help conclude the deceased's life properly and minimize inconvenience to surrounding neighbors.
The target beneficiaries are low-income solitary death and unclaimed deceased within the district, and the belongings cleanup costs will be directly supported to specialized cleaning companies. Up to 1 million KRW will be provided to cover the costs of special cleaning to remove bloodstains and odors left in the living space where the deceased stayed, as well as organizing used items.
The district revised related ordinances in March last year to establish the basis for support and has been promoting the "Solitary Death Belongings Cleanup Project" since July of the same year.
Lee Pil-hyung, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, said, "Single-person households have already become a representative family form in modern society, and it has become important to create policies to address various needs and social problems accordingly. We will continue to promote various projects to alleviate the isolation of single-person households and prevent solitary deaths, such as the AI Check-in Reliable Service and health drink support projects for households at risk of solitary death."
