Employees of HD Hyundai in the Ulsan region have been leading the way in 'sharing life' by continuing group blood donations for 19 years.
HD Hyundai, together with the Korean Red Cross Ulsan Blood Center, is conducting a group blood donation event for employees at the HD Hyundai Heavy Industries Ulsan headquarters for five days from the 29th of last month to the 2nd of next month.
This year’s first group blood donation event involves about 400 employees from HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, HD Hyundai Construction Equipment, HD Hyundai Electric, and HD Hyundai Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering in the Ulsan region, participating through prior registration.
The Korean Red Cross Ulsan Blood Center deployed a total of 13 blood donation buses across 11 locations within the company, and HD Hyundai Heavy Industries and others encouraged active participation by recognizing the time spent donating blood as working hours.
Since signing a blood donation agreement with the Korean Red Cross in 2006, HD Hyundai has regularly conducted group blood donations every year and expanded the frequency to more than four times annually since 2021 to help alleviate blood supply shortages. The cumulative number of participants has reached approximately 12,840 as of last year.
Choi In-gyu, Director of the Ulsan Blood Center, stated, "Due to the winter cold wave and students’ winter vacation, blood supply has recently become difficult nationwide. In this situation where the interest and participation of local companies are crucial, the valuable participation of HD Hyundai employees is a great help."
A representative from HD Hyundai Heavy Industries said, "Many employees voluntarily step forward to donate blood, which can save precious lives, spreading the value of sharing life. We will continue to carry out various sharing activities in the future."
Meanwhile, the HD Hyundai 1% Sharing Foundation, operated through salary donations from HD Hyundai employees, conducted a blood donation campaign last year at the Pangyo Global R&D Center and donated 537 blood donation certificates collected to the Korea Leukemia Children's Foundation.
