The film "Comment Squad," which deals with the topic of online public opinion manipulation, is set to be released on March 27, Ace Maker Movie Works, the distributor, announced on the 31st.
"Comment Squad" depicts the story of reporter Im Sang-jin, who was suspended after writing an article about a large corporation, and an anonymous whistleblower who appears claiming to have manipulated online public opinion. The film is directed by Ahn Guk-jin, who previously directed "Alice in Earnestland" (2015).
Actor Son Seok-gu plays Im Sang-jin, a reporter who writes an article exposing the tyranny of a large corporation, gets suspended, and aims to return to work. Kim Sung-cheol portrays "Jjingppeotking," the de facto leader of the so-called "Team Aleph," who leads the manipulation of public opinion with quick wit. Hong Kyung takes on the role of "Fabtak," a keyboard warrior who experiences the power of online public opinion manipulation and becomes increasingly engrossed in it.
