Through this agreement, both companies will focus on finding new business models that combine finance and blockchain.
IBK Investment & Securities held an STO Working Group meeting in October last year and became the first in Korea to start developing a token securities underlying asset evaluation model. Within this year, it plans to launch a token securities pilot service and introduce STO services for investors on the currently revamped MTS.
Koscom plans to lower the entry barriers to the token securities market by providing the securities industry with △ a joint platform for issuing and distributing token securities △ distributed ledger technology through its token securities joint platform support project. Securities firms that develop and operate their own platforms may also choose to use only the distributed ledger.
Hong Woo-sun, President of Koscom, said, "We are pleased that IBK Investment & Securities, a long-time partner of Koscom, will also participate in the token securities service, and we will strive to create the best synergy between the two companies." He added, "Since Koscom manages the ledger for IBK Investment & Securities, we expect the linkage work with the token securities joint platform to proceed swiftly."
Seo Jeong-hak, CEO of IBK Investment & Securities, said, "Koscom's STO joint platform is expected to greatly assist in the efficient issuance of token securities." He added, "We will do our best to support asset securitization for promising SMEs through token securities and provide new investment opportunities for investors."
