Experts have advised that washing hair daily can have a negative impact on preventing hair loss for those over their 40s, drawing public attention. Professor Kwon Oh-sang, a dermatologist at Seoul National University College of Medicine, advised in an interview with YTN's 'News Rider' on the 30th that the frequency of hair washing and hair loss should vary according to 'individual differences.'

On that day, Professor Kwon explained, "It depends on one's lifestyle habits and scalp sebum, but from the 40s onward, the scalp becomes considerably dry," adding, "Since an overly dry scalp is not good for (hair loss), washing hair about 3 to 4 times a week is sufficient."

Regarding water temperature when washing hair, he recommended, "Washing hair with cold water can stimulate hair follicles, but it is insufficient for removing sebum and oil," and advised, "It is better to use lukewarm water."

As for hair loss prevention shampoos and treatment products sold on the market, he evaluated, "Their effects are not as significant as (hair loss) medications." Professor Kwon said, "No matter how effective the good ingredients are, when washing hair, the foam is rinsed off immediately, so the beneficial ingredients are washed away," adding, "They are better than not using anything, but they do not have the same effect as medication."

Regarding the effects of consuming black soybeans and black sesame seeds, which are known to be good for preventing hair loss, he said, "Black soybeans and sesame seeds contain many antioxidant components. They are very rich in a component called anthocyanin," and added, "It is recommended to follow an antioxidant-rich, anti-aging related diet and a balanced diet." The anthocyanin pigments found in so-called 'black foods' such as black soybeans and black sesame seeds are known to prevent cellular aging and stimulate hair follicle cells.
