Gyeonggi-do Publishes 'Public Interest Whistleblowing Reward and Compensation Casebook'

Gyeonggi-do Publishes 'Public Interest Whistleblowing Reward and Compensation Casebook' Cover of the Gyeonggi-do Public Interest Whistleblower Reward and Prize Casebook

Gyeonggi Province has produced a casebook on whistleblower rewards and incentives from the past five years.

On the 31st, Gyeonggi Province announced that it created the "Gyeonggi Province Whistleblower Rewards and Incentives Casebook," which introduces major whistleblowing cases by analyzing a total of 508 cases and over 420 million KRW in rewards and incentives paid through citizen reports from 2019 to 2023.

Gyeonggi Province handles reports related to provincial affairs among the 471 legal violations stipulated by the "Whistleblower Protection Act" through its whistleblower hotline. In particular, when administrative or judicial actions are taken against violators as a result of investigations, rewards and incentives are paid after review.

The casebook introduces how to report whistleblowing and presents actual reports and handling results by field, including representative types of public interest violations such as safety, environment, consumer interests, health, and corruption, along with the amounts of rewards and incentives paid, making it easier for citizens to understand whistleblowing.

This casebook is distributed to the Open Civil Service Office at the Gyeonggi Provincial Government and civil service offices in 31 cities and counties, allowing citizens to access it directly. It is also available for viewing through the Gyeonggi Province Whistleblower Hotline (hotline.gg.go.kr) and the Gyeonggi Province e-book site (ebook.gg.go.kr).

Lee Seon-beom, the investigation officer of Gyeonggi Province, stated, "We hope that the cases of rewards and incentives paid for major violations in the casebook will lead to new whistleblowing by citizens and result in a decrease in public interest violations."
