“I always feel at ease whenever I visit this place.”
This is the remark of Jeong ○○, a resident of Dobong-gu who uses the Ma-eum Jeongwon (Mind Garden).
Dobong-gu (Mayor Oh Eon-seok) has established and is operating the Seoul-style counseling space ‘Ma-eum Jeongwon’ on the second floor of the public health center to promote the mental health of Dobong-gu residents. This measure was taken in response to the increased importance of mental health as a top social issue in the post-COVID-19 era.
‘Ma-eum Jeongwon’ is designed as a space where counselors and clients can fully focus on each other during counseling sessions. It emphasizes soundproofing, concentration, and stability, creating an optimal environment for complete recovery and change.
The space is equipped with diffusers that help calm the mind and body, indirect lighting, and fabric sofas. There is also a media landscape window where visitors can enjoy natural scenery accompanied by the sounds of nature. Additionally, a mini garden outside provides clients with a positive atmosphere.
It operates on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and any Dobong-gu resident can receive free mental health counseling for issues such as anxiety, depression, and suicidal thoughts by making a reservation in advance at the Dobong-gu Public Health Center Mental Health Welfare Center.
A counselor at the Dobong-gu Public Health Center Mental Health Welfare Center said, “Everyone who enters the counseling room feels comfortable and is satisfied with the counseling service, which makes me proud,” adding, “We will continue to provide the best counseling services so that everyone who visits here can leave with a lighter step.”
Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong-gu, stated, “Dobong-gu Ma-eum Jeongwon is a new-concept counseling space created to promote the psychological and emotional recovery of residents who come to resolve difficulties in their minds,” and added, “We will operate substantial counseling services to improve residents’ mental health, reduce suicidal thoughts, and support psychological recovery.”
