Formation of 48 Project Teams... 3,937 Participants from 6 Implementing Agencies... 380 Members of District Office Street Environment Guardians and Nono Care Project Teams Operate 3 Hours a Day, 10 Days a Month
Seongbuk-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Seung-ro) will carry out the senior job project this year targeting 3,937 people, an increase of 480 from last year.
In particular, the district secured an additional 4.12 billion KRW compared to last year's budget due to the expansion of senior job project participants.
Accordingly, more seniors will be able to participate in the job project at six senior job implementing organizations compared to the previous year: Seongbuk-gu Office, Seongbuk Senior Club, Seongbuk Senior Welfare Center, Gireum Comprehensive Social Welfare Center, Korean Senior Citizens Association Seongbuk Branch, and Life Line Comprehensive Social Welfare Center.
The Seongbuk-gu Senior Job and Social Activity Support Project consists of 48 project groups including public interest type (21), social service type (17), market type (9), and employment referral type (1). After the inauguration ceremony on the 30th, activities will begin sequentially. The senior job project is recognized as a representative welfare policy that improves quality of life by allowing seniors to participate in social activities in the community, feel a sense of belonging, communicate with neighbors, and earn pocket money.
The activity allowance for senior job activities has also been raised for the first time in six years. The public interest activity type was increased from 270,000 KRW to 290,000 KRW per month based on 30 hours, and the social service type was increased from 594,000 KRW to 634,000 KRW per month based on 60 hours.
With the increase in activity allowance, seniors’ enthusiasm for job participation is also high. The street environment keepers and NoNoCare project groups operated by Seongbuk-gu Office recruited 380 people at each community service center in January, with a total of 750 seniors applying, approaching a competition rate of about 2 to 1.
The district plans to select the top 380 people with the highest scores according to the Ministry of Health and Welfare’s public interest activity participant selection criteria and carry out the project for a total of 11 months from February 5 to December.
Five other implementing organizations besides the district office conducted integrated recruitment and selection of 3,327 people in December last year and will start the project in January and February this year.
Lee Seung-ro, Mayor of Seongbuk-gu, said, “The best policy related to the centenarian era is the activation of senior jobs,” and added, “We will continue to do our best to cultivate Seongbuk-gu where seniors can communicate with neighbors and spend a rewarding and happy old age through healthy social participation.”
Meanwhile, representative senior job projects in Seongbuk-gu include safe traffic guidance school zone helpers in front of elementary schools, meal distribution helpers for lower-grade elementary students, pedestrian path public data information collectors (pedestrian path information collection experts), community environment keepers, park environment keepers, and NoNoCare for checking on elderly living alone.
