GW Biotech announced on the 30th that following the acquisition of international rights for an animal disinfectant earlier this month, it has successfully conducted product performance tests upon prior requests from global livestock companies in various countries, thereby opening the path for overseas exports.
The product performance tests primarily involve verifying efficacy against African Swine Fever (ASF), Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome (PRRS), and Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea (PED), which mainly occur in China and Vietnam, where pig farming is prevalent.
In Vietnam, a global animal feed brand requested product performance testing, resulting in the export of 2 tons of the product, which has already arrived locally. The company will evaluate performance by dividing 10,000 pigs owned by the brand into test and control groups.
In China, a local pharmaceutical company will first verify the virus inactivation effect, followed by on-site validation experiments. According to the company, the initial laboratory test results showed a high level of satisfaction meeting China’s standards, raising expectations for the subsequent farm experiments.
Going forward, GW Biotech plans to promote new exports by collaborating with multinational animal feed companies operating in Myanmar and Indonesia.
Once the final product performance tests tailored to each local market are completed, the practical export route for GW Biotech’s animal disinfectant will open. The company has achieved a significant outcome by shortening the usual 6 months to 1 year period required for product registration in each country through these meaningful product test results. GW Biotech expects to accelerate global sales by establishing infrastructure such as pre-export product performance inspections.
Executive Director Ahn Dae-bong, who oversees the Green Bio business, stated, “As livestock diseases are spreading worldwide, our goal is not just the domestic market but also overseas expansion. Through the product performance verifications in various countries, we aim to establish a foothold for global market entry and subsequently conduct active local marketing to translate into export achievements.”
Meanwhile, GW Biotech’s animal virus disinfectant obtained international rights in early January and is a credible product jointly patented with the Korea Research Institute of Chemical Technology (KRICT). It features a natural non-ionic surfactant as the main ingredient and utilizes Cell-lysis technology that immediately penetrates inside viruses to destroy cell walls. Having been verified for safety to humans and the environment, it is a new-concept disinfectant that improves upon the high oxidizing power, corrosiveness, and irritancy of conventional disinfectants, and is expected to be globally distributed.
