The international relief and development NGO Good People (Chairman Kim Cheon-su) announced that on the 27th, it held the final meeting to conclude the three-year activities of the self-reliant youth support project ‘Good Friends’.

Since 2021, Good People has been running the self-reliant youth support project ‘Good Friends’ to help young people preparing to leave child care facilities and group homes successfully become independent.

Through ‘Good Friends,’ Good People provided self-reliant youth with relationship competency programs aimed at strengthening financial capabilities and building social and emotional support systems. Additionally, it offered personalized career exploration and internship experiences through partnerships with companies.

To wrap up the three-year ‘Good Friends’ project and review its achievements, Good People held the ‘Good Friends Final Meeting’ on the 27th.

At the event, past activities and outcomes were shared, and through a talk concert, groups of youth exchanged their changes and impressions.

A self-reliant youth said, “Through Good Friends, I met various friends and felt a sense of belonging and found people I can rely on. Although the activities have ended, I support everyone’s future as they grow into wonderful members of society.”

Go Won-seok, CEO of the Self-Reliance Support Center Navi Do, stated, “Three years of activities do not mean complete independence, but it has laid the groundwork for each young person to find their own role and become self-reliant. We will continue to maintain these precious relationships as companions and friends living life together.”

Kim Cheon-su, Chairman of Good People, said, “For self-reliant youth to settle stably in society, continuous community interest and systematic support are crucial. Good People will spare no effort in providing ongoing education and opportunities so that youth can grow into healthy members of society.”

Meanwhile, Good People plans to continue individual support in 2024, including internship programs for employment and job linkage and self-development scholarships, to ensure practical self-reliance stabilization for self-reliant youth.
