Dongdaemun-gu (District Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) will hold the '2024 Lunar New Year Agricultural and Marine Products Direct Market' on February 1st from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the plaza in front of the district office.
The district's 'Holiday Direct Market,' which has been held for over 20 years, allows farmers and producers from sister cities to sell high-quality local specialties and ceremonial items at affordable prices directly. This contributes to ▲increasing income for farmers in sister cities ▲reducing the holiday household expenditure burden for residents, receiving great responses from both consumers and producers every year.
This year's 'Lunar New Year Direct Market' will feature farmers from 13 sister cities and counties (Namhae-gun, Naju-si, Jecheon-si, Chuncheon-si, Eumseong-gun, Yeoju-si, Sunchang-gun, Cheongsong-gun, Cheongyang-gun, Sangju-si, Yeoncheon-gun, Boseong-gun, Buan-gun) and the local Women's Federation, offering a total of about 100 items including ▲representative ceremonial products such as apples, pears, and Korean beef ▲local specialties such as anchovies and gim (seaweed) ▲wine and honey gift sets.
These products are sold without going through distribution companies, allowing purchases at prices lower than market rates.
Lee Pil-hyung, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, said, "In this era of high prices, we prepared the Lunar New Year market hoping residents can prepare their ancestral rites tables more affordably through direct transactions with farmers from our sister cities." He added, "We ask for the interest and participation of all residents in the direct market on February 1st."
