Yeosu-si Selects 18 Operators for Romantic Pocha

51 Candidates Who Passed the First Document Screening Hold Food Tasting Event on the 27th

Yeosu City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Jeong Gi-myeong) announced the final selection of 18 operators for the 8th term to newly lead the ‘Yeosu Night Sea Romantic Pocha’.

According to the city, on the 27th, a food tasting event was held at Yeosu Information Science High School with 51 candidates who passed the first document screening, and 18 people were selected, including 5 general citizens, 7 young people, 3 socially vulnerable individuals, and 3 nearby residents.

To ensure fair and objective evaluation, the city formed a panel of 10 evaluators consisting of university professors nationwide specializing in food and culinary-related departments.

On the day, participants cooked their signature dishes within a set time, and the evaluators comprehensively assessed seven categories including cooking process, taste, creativity, and popularity of the finished dishes, then announced the results on-site.

The 18 operators selected for the 8th term will operate the Romantic Pocha for one year starting from March 1, after signing an operation agreement and completing administrative procedures.

A city official stated, “Through a fair and transparent food tasting event, we have selected new operators who can provide not only delicious food but also friendly service to citizens and tourists,” adding, “We will do our best to manage and maintain the dignity of Yeosu’s unique representative tourism content and a nationwide hot place.”
