Winter Mosquito Larva Control of 1 Larva Leads to Elimination of 500 Adult Mosquitoes Effectively
Iksan City, Jeonbuk Province, has launched a 'Winter Larvae Special Control' campaign to create a pleasant environment and protect citizens' health by preemptively eradicating mosquitoes during the summer season.
According to the city on the 29th, due to the earlier activity period of sanitary pests caused by abnormal high temperatures, the period until March has been designated as the winter larvae special control period, during which intensive control measures will be implemented.

Winter control is highly efficient in reducing manpower and chemical costs, significantly decreasing the number of mosquitoes in summer. Eradicating one mosquito larva is equivalent to controlling 500 adult mosquitoes.
The disinfection involves applying eco-friendly larvicide to major mosquito larval habitats such as septic tanks, sewers, sumps, and puddles to minimize the occurrence of mosquitoes in summer.
Lee Jin-yoon, Director of the Health Center, stated, "We will actively carry out control measures to reduce the number of mosquitoes in summer," adding, "If citizens participate by removing stagnant water from small containers around their homes, it will greatly enhance the effectiveness of proactive disinfection."
Meanwhile, if residents discover and report mosquito larval habitats such as abandoned tires or stagnant water in puddles to the Health Center, prompt control measures will be taken.
