Anyang City, 190 Million Won in 'Hometown Love Donation' Last Year

Anyang City, 190 Million Won in 'Hometown Love Donation' Last Year Thank-you gifts for the Hometown Love Donation Program of Anyang City

Anyang City in Gyeonggi Province raised 190 million KRW through the Hometown Love Donation Fund last year, achieving 190% of its target amount of 100 million KRW.

On the 29th, Anyang City announced that a total of 1,892 people donated 190 million KRW to Anyang through the Hometown Love Donation System last year.

Anyang City explained that although the goal was to reach 100 million KRW last year, the amount raised exceeded the target due to relay donations from celebrities, various online and offline promotions, and the selection of popular thank-you gifts.

By donation amount, donors who gave 100,000 KRW and received thank-you gifts worth about 30,000 KRW (such as antibiotic-free pork, grilled pork, shampoo sets, and Anyang Love Pay) accounted for 88% of all cases, making them the largest group.

By region, 57% of the total donations came from residents of Gyeonggi Province, and 18% from Seoul, indicating a high donation rate from metropolitan area citizens. By age, people in their 30s accounted for 41%, followed by those in their 40s (24%) and 50s (18%).

The Hometown Love Donation System, first implemented last year, allows individuals to donate up to 5 million KRW annually to local governments other than their registered address. When donating 100,000 KRW, donors receive a full tax credit and thank-you gifts worth up to 30% of the donation amount.

An official from Anyang City stated, "The valuable donations collected through the Hometown Love Donation System will be used to improve residents' welfare and support the revitalization of the local community."

To promote the Hometown Love Donation System, Anyang City selected a total of 33 thank-you gifts last year. At the 5th Thank-You Gift Selection Committee held on the 26th, organic mask packs (4 types) were additionally selected as thank-you gifts, bringing the total to 34 gifts offered this year. Anyang City plans to continue introducing a wider variety of local specialties to donors.

Mayor Choi Dae-ho of Anyang said, "This year, we will promote distinctive fund projects that citizens can feel and donors can take pride in, so that the love for Anyang can continue to grow, and we will strive to firmly establish a culture of donation."
