Baek Seung-bo Appointed as New Vice Administrator of Public Procurement Service, Former Head of Seoul Regional Procurement Service

The government has appointed Baek Seung-bo (52, photo), the head of the Seoul Regional Public Procurement Service, as the new Deputy Administrator of the Public Procurement Service.

Deputy Administrator Baek began his public service career at the Public Procurement Service in 1996 (passing the 39th Administrative Examination) and has accumulated 27 years of experience in key procurement areas such as goods, services, construction contracts, procurement informatization, and raw material stockpiling.


Known as an expert in the field of public procurement, Deputy Administrator Baek is recognized for his contributions to the qualitative growth of public procurement, including designing the next-generation Nara Marketplace integrating new technologies like artificial intelligence, improving digital service and software contract methods, and promoting the entry of startup and venture companies into the public market.


He has also worked to strengthen management of safety products directly related to citizens' lives and crack down on unfair practices, as well as to ensure appropriate construction costs for contractors by establishing a public-private collaboration network, striving to secure transparency and reliability in public procurement.


An official from the Public Procurement Service stated, “Based on Deputy Administrator Baek’s deep understanding of public procurement policies, we expect him to have a positive impact on regulatory innovation at procurement sites and support dynamic economic growth through public procurement, which are key priorities for the Public Procurement Service.”
