Wando-gun Implements Half-Price Passenger Ferry Fare Support Program for Tourists

Discounts Available from Next Month 1st for Visits to Cheongsando, Yeoseodo, Nohwa, Soan, and Bogildo

Wando-gun, Jeollanam-do, will temporarily implement the ‘Half-Price Ferry Fare Support Project for the General Public’ starting from the 1st of next month to reduce the passenger fare burden for tourists and revitalize island tourism.

According to the county on the 29th, the half-price ferry fare support project for the general public (excluding Wando residents) applies to general visitors traveling to Cheongsando, Cheongsan Yeoseodo, Nohwa (Neopdo), Soan, and Bogildo islands.

The ferry routes eligible for fare support are Wando－Cheongsan, Wando－Yeoseo, Hwahaengpo－Dongcheon－Soan, Ttangkkeut－Sanyang, and Ttangkkeut－Neopdo.

Terminal usage fees and vehicle fares are not included, and in cases where discounts such as those for national merit recipients, seniors aged 65 and over, or persons with disabilities are applied, half of the already discounted fare will be supported.

Last year, from October 4 to December 26, 360 million KRW was provided to 123,343 people, and this year, with reduced funding, it is expected that ferry fares will be supported for approximately 83,000 tourists and general visitors.

County Governor Shin Woo-cheol stated, “Through the half-price ferry fare support project, we aim to reduce the fare burden for tourists visiting our county. As island travel has recently gained popularity, we hope this will also contribute to revitalizing island tourism and invigorating the local economy. We will do our best to coordinate with ferry operators and conduct guidance and inspections to ensure smooth project implementation.”
