Major Shift to 'Electronic Payment Method' for 4 Major Insurance Premiums

You Can Instantly Check Whether Insurance Premiums Have Been Paid

The payment method for the four major social insurance premiums (health, pension, employment, and industrial accident) will be completely switched from the standard OCR to the 'electronic payment method.'

Major Shift to 'Electronic Payment Method' for 4 Major Insurance Premiums

On the 29th, the National Health Insurance Service announced that the payment method at financial institutions for the four major insurance premiums will be fully converted from the standard OCR to the electronic payment method. As a result, it will be possible to immediately verify whether the premiums have been paid, greatly enhancing the convenience of issuing payment certificates.

Under the existing standard OCR method, even if subscribers paid their premiums, it took more than two days for the Service to confirm the payment, so payment certificates were not provided immediately.

The NHIS boldly revamped the electronic payment number system, which had been maintained for 14 years, to facilitate this transition to the electronic payment method.

Starting from January this year, all notices issued by the Service will be distributed as 'electronic payment-only notices' without OCR forms.

The Service plans to provide customer-centered services by simplifying complex payment procedures throughout the year and strengthening verification processes, thereby advancing digital payment services to enable easy and fast premium payments.

Kim Seon-ok, Executive Director of Collection, stated, "We will continuously identify and boldly improve administrative systems and procedures that cause inconvenience in the daily lives of the people, striving to further enhance public convenience."
