Yongin City Increases Subsidies for Maintenance and Repair of Apartment Complexes by 17.6%

Support for Repairing Aging Facilities Including Elevator Replacement in Complex

Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 29th that it will accept applications for subsidies supporting the repair of aging multi-family housing until the 29th of next month.

This year, the city has allocated 2.736 billion KRW for multi-family housing subsidies. This amount is a 17.6% increase compared to last year's 2.326 billion KRW. Despite the overall deterioration of financial conditions, the budget for improving residential environments has been increased.

The subsidy support scale by category includes ▲ 2.46 billion KRW for maintenance and repair of common areas in multi-family housing ▲ 100 million KRW for common electricity fees in public rental apartments ▲ 170 million KRW for improving working conditions of multi-family housing management workers.

The maintenance and repair support for common areas in multi-family housing targets apartments, multi-unit houses, and row houses that have been completed for more than 7 years. It supports repair or replacement work for internal roads within complexes, water and sewage pipes, elevators, children's playgrounds, exterior walls and rooftop waterproofing, closed-circuit (CC)TV, and parking lot floors.

Support is provided up to 50% of the total construction cost, with limits of ▲ 75 million KRW for complexes with 1,000 or more households ▲ 60 million KRW for 500 to 1,000 households ▲ 45 million KRW for 300 to 500 households ▲ 30 million KRW for 20 to 300 households ▲ 10 million KRW for fewer than 20 households.

Applications can be submitted by downloading the application form from the Yongin City website and visiting the city’s Housing Division to submit the project plan. To apply, a consent form signed by at least two-thirds of the owners or a resolution from the residents' representative meeting must be attached. The city plans to select the subsidy recipient complexes in March after review by the Multi-family Housing Support Review Committee.

The support for improving working conditions of multi-family housing management workers is a project that supports improvements such as rest facilities for security guards and cleaners, and installation of air conditioners in security offices. A separate project plan will be established next month to announce the support criteria and amounts.

A city official stated, "This year, we have expanded the support budget so that more residents can benefit from the multi-family housing subsidy support project," adding, "We plan to continue expanding support to create safe and comfortable residential spaces."
