Seocho-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jeon Seong-su) will issue a total of 4 billion KRW worth of ‘Seocho Love Gift Certificates’ to reduce the shopping burden on residents and promote the revitalization of the local commercial district during the Lunar New Year holiday.
The Seocho Love Gift Certificates can be purchased from 12:00 PM on the 31st at a 5% discount off the face value, up to a maximum of 500,000 KRW per person. They are available for purchase through five applications: ▲Seoul Pay Plus ▲Money Tree ▲T-money Pay ▲Shinhan SOL ▲Shinhan Play.
The certificates can be used at approximately 14,000 affiliated stores registered on Seoul Pay Plus within Seocho-gu, including restaurants, pharmacies, and convenience stores. Detailed information can be found in the ‘Find Stores’ section of the Seoul Pay Plus app.
The usage period is five years from the date of purchase. Unused gift certificates can be fully refunded, and if more than 60% of the face value is used, the remaining balance excluding the discount support fund will be refunded.
An official from the district office stated, “Since Seocho Love Gift Certificates have sold out early on the day of issuance every time, we recommend downloading the app in advance, registering as a member, and checking the purchase schedule carefully to ensure smooth purchasing.”
Meanwhile, since July last year, the district has been operating the public delivery app ‘Seocho Ttaenggyeoyo,’ applying the industry’s lowest brokerage fee of 2% to affiliated stores. Consumers can purchase and use ‘Seocho Ttaenggyeoyo Gift Certificates’ at a 15% discounted price.
The ‘Seocho Ttaenggyeoyo Gift Certificates’ are issued on the 1st of every month, with a total issuance planned for 400 million KRW in February. Each person can purchase up to 200,000 KRW, and like the Seocho Love Gift Certificates, they can be purchased through the five apps including Seoul Pay Plus and used via the public delivery app ‘Seocho Ttaenggyeoyo’ app.
Seocho-gu Mayor Jeon Seong-su said, “We hope that the Seocho Love Gift Certificates issued for the upcoming Lunar New Year will help reduce the shopping burden for residents in this era of high inflation and also contribute to increasing sales for small business owners.”
