Implementation of the 'Visiting Senior Center Health Management Project' Linked with Community Medical Resources from 2023
Survey Results Show Average Satisfaction Score of 94...This Year, Project Targets Expanded to 36 Senior Centers...Various Programs Including Fall Prevention Education and Bone Density Testing Operated
Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Gyeong-gi) is receiving great responses by providing professional health management services to the elderly in cooperation with local medical resources.
The Visiting Senior Center Health Management Project is a program where visiting nurses, private doctors, dentists, Korean medicine doctors, and pharmacists form a team to manage the health of seniors at senior centers. It started in 2023 and provided various health management services to 1,558 seniors at 33 senior centers throughout the year.
Visiting nurses measure blood pressure and blood sugar and record the overall health status in a health notebook. Then, private medical staff conduct one-on-one health consultations based on the health notebook, individual medications, and individual pulse diagnosis.
Additionally, professional education on chronic disease management, acupressure points, and prevention of medication misuse is also conducted.
In particular, by linking with the Dementia Safety Center, dementia prevention education and individual examinations are carried out, and a professional instructor from the Korean Association of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation provides CPR training. Various medical resources are connected to provide health management services. As a result, a satisfaction survey of 468 project participants achieved an average satisfaction score of 94 points, and the re-participation intention score was 96 points.
The district plans to expand the number of target senior centers to 36 this year and expects more diverse medical resources to participate in the project. Fall prevention education and bone density tests will be conducted in connection with the Northern Hospital’s fracture and fall prevention class.
Also, a tuberculosis prevention specialist instructor will be invited to conduct tuberculosis prevention education.
Ryu Gyeong-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, said, “I thank the local medical personnel who actively participate to help seniors maintain a healthy life,” and added, “We will continue to provide various health management services to carefully look after the health of our seniors.”
