Applications accepted until March 19 for 9 neighborhoods in Mia and Suyu areas... Target sites confirmed in April, operations start in July
Enhancing completeness with new projects such as installing mobile CCTV in habitual illegal dumping areas this year
Gangbuk-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Soon-hee) will expand the operation of villa management offices in two areas of Mia and Suyu-dong this year, enhancing the completeness of the project by introducing new initiatives.
The "Villa Management Office" is one of Mayor Lee Soon-hee's pledges during the 8th term of local government, designed to manage small-scale multi-family housing such as villas as cleanly as apartments. The purpose is to improve residents' quality of life by supporting areas closely related to daily living, including alley cleaning, intensive management of illegal dumping, repair support for shared facilities, identification of safety hazards, and resolution of parking issues.
The Villa Management Office first began operation in March 2022 in the pilot area of Beon 1-dong (68 buildings, 694 households). Five months after the project started, in July last year, the district received the Grand Prize at the "2023 National Basic Local Government Manifesto Competition" for this initiative. A survey conducted in August among residents of the pilot area showed a satisfaction rate of 94%.
Based on the successful results of this pilot project, the district has decided to expand the project to two areas in Mia and Suyu-dong applying the pilot model.
The project sites will be selected through a public contest. The eligible areas for the contest, considering regional balance, exclude the Beon-dong area (Beon 1-3 dong) where the project is currently underway and Samgaksan-dong, which is densely populated with apartments. The contest targets nine other neighborhoods (Samyang, Mia, Songjung, Songcheon, Suyu 1, Suyu 2, Suyu 3, Ui, Insu-dong) where multi-family housing subject to voluntary management (excluding multi-family housing under mandatory management as defined by the "Multi-family Housing Management Act") is densely concentrated. The district will accept applications for project sites until March 19.
Afterward, the district will comprehensively review factors such as the density and aging of multi-family housing, conditions for installing the Villa Management Office, resident participation rates in the application area, and the necessity for residential environment improvement. The project sites will be selected around April, followed by an opening ceremony around July, and the project will be implemented.
As part of this year's expansion, the district plans to add new initiatives and strengthen existing support areas. First, as a new initiative, mobile closed-circuit televisions (CCTV) will be installed in habitual illegal dumping areas within the project zones. To create a clean and pleasant residential environment, the installation locations will be moved as needed, reflecting the opinions of villa management office managers and residents.
Additionally, in cooperation with the Gangbuk Police Station, safety bells will be installed in dangerous areas within the project zones, and public restrooms will be regularly inspected for the presence of hidden cameras to prevent crimes such as illegal filming.
Furthermore, a community activation project will be promoted to form resident communities for those wishing to engage in flower and tree planting and cultural activities.
Moreover, existing projects will be supplemented through support for installing recycling bins, tailored professional consulting for maintenance of shared facilities such as rooftop waterproofing and wall repairs, and maintenance of park sand playgrounds within the management areas.
Residents wishing to participate in the project can submit the application form, resident consent form, and other required documents by visiting the Housing Division (6th floor) of Gangbuk-gu Office, mailing them to 13 Dobong-ro 89-gil, 6th floor Housing Division, Gangbuk-gu, or sending them via email to the person in charge.
Detailed information about the contest can be found on the Gangbuk-gu website, and inquiries about the project can be directed to the district's Housing Division for guidance.
Mayor Lee Soon-hee of Gangbuk-gu said, "As 94% of respondents expressed satisfaction in the satisfaction survey conducted among residents of the pilot area, we will diligently carry out the project in the expanded areas this year to ensure residents can be fully satisfied with the life-oriented services. We encourage many residents who need residential environment improvements to apply."
