Dongdaemun-gu Mayor Ilhyung Lee Meets with Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport to Discuss GTX-B Line Ventilation Shaft and Other Issues

Dongdaemun-gu Mayor Ilhyung Lee Meets with Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport to Discuss GTX-B Line Ventilation Shaft and Other Issues

Lee Pil-hyung, Mayor of Dongdaemun District Office, met with Park Sang-woo, Minister of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, at the Gwacheon Government Complex on the 26th to discuss various local issues and future development plans.

During the meeting, Mayor Lee raised the issue of relocating the ventilation shaft for the GTX-B line. He particularly expressed that the change in the ventilation shaft’s location without consent is unfair and that it is unacceptable that it was moved to Yongdu Neighborhood Park in Dongdaemun-gu.

Mayor Lee requested the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport to reconsider the location from a magnanimous perspective and further proposed ▲ the addition of two GTX transfer entrances around Cheongnyangni Station and ▲ the prompt advancement of the ‘single-track line construction of the Bundang Line (Cheongnyangni~Wangsimni)’ directly connecting Cheongnyangni and Gangnam.

He also emphasized mutual cooperation regarding the Ministry’s digital logistics demonstration project contest and the leading project for spatial innovation zones, asking for support in the upcoming ‘selection of spatial innovation zone candidate sites’ and the ‘relocation of railway vehicle depots’ such as the Imun Vehicle Depot, which are scheduled to be announced this year.

Minister Park Sang-woo responded after listening to the proposals from the Dongdaemun District Office, saying, “I understand the position of Dongdaemun-gu and its residents and will actively review these matters,” and added, “Please strive to ensure that the Ministry’s new development policies, such as expanding various types of housing supply and the three-dimensional complexification of urban planning facilities, can be applied proactively in Dongdaemun-gu by leveraging its geographical advantage for easy commuting to Gangnam, Jongno, and other areas.”

In particular, Minister Park also called for solving parking issues through the three-dimensional complexification of traditional markets and the introduction of innovative logistics systems.

Lee Pil-hyung, Mayor of Dongdaemun District Office, stated, “We will actively cooperate with the central government’s policies to promote the complex development around Cheongnyangni and strengthen the competitiveness of Cheongnyangni traditional market.”
