On the 19th, Sookmyung Women’s University held a launch ceremony for the cosmetics at the Baekjunyeon Memorial Hall in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, attended by the presidents of both universities and about 50 officials, the university announced on the 27th.

Ramoni is a product developed by combining Sookmyung Women’s University’s design capabilities with Daegu Haany University’s cosmetic formulation and manufacturing technology. Three types of cosmetics will be released: moisturizing hand cream, hydrating hand cream, and hydrating serum.

The brand name is inspired by the pronunciation of the French word L'harmonie, meaning ‘harmony.’ It symbolizes the harmony between the environment and people, like flowers blooming in every season, represented by Sookmyung Women’s University’s symbolic plum blossom that blooms only in winter and Daegu Haany University’s symbolic crape myrtle that blooms only in summer. The hand creams also contain plum blossom extract and crape myrtle extract, symbolizing the traditions and history of both universities.

To enhance the product’s completeness, the two universities collected feedback from about 1,500 people including current students and alumni. A new approach was also taken where students directly produced prototypes through the capstone design course, a problem-based learning method, and presented their results at a performance sharing session.

Previously, in May last year, Sookmyung Women’s University and Daegu Haany University signed a business agreement centered on the Industry-Academic Cooperation Leading University (link) 3.0 project group to jointly develop the cosmetic brand. Both parties plan to jointly apply for intellectual property rights such as trademarks and sell the cosmetics through online channels like Coupang, Naver, and live commerce.

Jang Yoon-geum, president of Sookmyung Women’s University, said, “Ramoni is a project where a metropolitan university and a regional university collaborate and coexist based on their respective strengths, living up to the meaning of harmony.” She added, “We hope that Sookmyung Women’s University and Daegu Haany University will become a successful example of sharing and collaboration between universities.”
