Creating a Cultural Street Based on Animation Characters

This agreement aims to revitalize the local economy and foster outstanding talent in the field of cultural content.
Attending the signing ceremony were key figures including Dongseo University President Jang Je-guk, Vice Dean of Industry-Academia Cooperation Kwon Kyung-soo, Director of the Humanities and Social Convergence Talent Development Project Choi Dong-hyuk, as well as Dong-gu Office Mayor Kim Jin-hong and other officials.
Through this agreement, Dongseo University and Busan Dong-gu Office agreed to mutually cooperate on ▲content development cooperation and support for local economic revitalization ▲hosting and operational support of the Busan International Animation Festival ▲program operation for nurturing outstanding local talent in the cultural content field ▲establishing policies and discussing activation plans for improving the cultural street using animation characters in Ibagu-gil. They plan to enhance the cultural value of the Busan region and revitalize the local economy through such cooperation.
President Jang Je-guk of Dongseo University said, “Busan Dong-gu is a representative filming location and birthplace of culture and arts in Busan, known for places like the International Market and the film War on Crime. I am pleased that we will cooperate for the development of Busan’s regional culture,” adding, “I hope we will work together for the advancement of Busan’s film and animation industries.”
Mayor Kim Jin-hong of Dong-gu Office stated, “The Department of Visual Animation and the Film Department at Dongseo University are known as Asia’s top film and animation college, gathering the best educational environment and talents nationwide. I expect this MOU to serve as a focal point to better introduce Korean and Busan Dong-gu culture to the many tourists and foreigners visiting Busan.”
This agreement presents a new cooperation model between the local community and the university and is expected to greatly contribute to the economic and cultural development of the Busan region.
In particular, the creation of a cultural street based on animation characters utilizing Ibagu-gil and the development of convergent storytelling linked with local specialties and the tourism industry are drawing attention. Through this cooperation, it is expected to enhance the cultural value of the Busan region and have a positive impact on the local economy.
