"Husband Nam Il-woo Taken to ER Due to Injury"
Actress Kim Yong-rim confessed that she struggled over her son's marriage because her daughter-in-law, actress Kim Ji-young, had a different religion.
Kim Yong-rim appeared as a guest on KBS2's 'Park Won-sook's Let's Live Together Season 3' aired on the 25th and recalled the time when her son and actor Nam Sung-jin got married. Nam Sung-jin met fellow actress Kim Ji-young on the MBC drama 'Jeonwon Ilgi' and they got married in May 2004.

On that day, when asked, "You welcomed an actress as your daughter-in-law. Did you readily accept it?" Kim Yong-rim said, "I had a very good impression of her. I thought she was a mature person in many ways. But there was just one thing that concerned me," citing religion as the reason.
Kim Yong-rim said, "I am Buddhist, but Ji-young's family is Christian," adding, "But the beautiful thing about Ji-young is that she never once upset me because of religion. She also participated in our family's religious events. Not only the ancestral rites but also memorial ceremonies."
"I don't know how she truly felt inside, but she joined in all the meals and activities. So, I couldn't have any complaints," she said.
She also revealed, "After marriage, they started living separately from the beginning. Honestly, I wanted them to live with us for about six months, but my husband Nam Il-woo absolutely refused."
She also shared an update on her husband and actor Nam Il-woo. "He was filming a show scheduled to air next year and was traveling to Andong. While he was in Andong, he fell," she said. "So he had surgery, was taken to the emergency room, and was hospitalized for three months."

Regarding how her son Nam Sung-jin became an actor, she said, "We originally planned to send him to an engineering school, but suddenly in his second year of high school, he dreamed of entering the Department of Theater and Film." She added, "How can you win against your child? I let him do what he wanted."
She also mentioned that he studied abroad in Russia during college to study acting. Kim Yong-rim recalled, "I saw my son struggling while doing theater activities in Russia. Feeling sorry for his life in a foreign country with unstable security, I brought him back to Korea. It happened to be the time when SBS was recruiting new actors. He was selected without even knowing that he was the son of Kim Yong-rim and Nam Il-woo."
Actress Kim Yong-rim was born in 1940 and is 84 years old this year. She debuted as a voice actor in the first public recruitment of Seoul Central Broadcasting in 1961. She married actor Nam Il-woo and has one son, Nam Sung-jin. The couple Nam Sung-jin and Kim Ji-young also have one son.
