The joint inspection team of Seongnam City is inspecting the parking lots of large retail facilities in the area.
Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province will conduct safety inspections of multi-use facilities such as traditional markets and large retail stores ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday.
On the 26th, Seongnam City announced that it will form a joint inspection team with related organizations including local fire stations, the Korea Electrical Safety Corporation, and the Korea Gas Safety Corporation to carry out fire and safety inspections of multi-use facilities by the 31st of this month.
The inspection targets include 28 traditional markets, 4 department stores, and 8 large retail facilities, totaling 40 locations.
The main inspection items are ▲whether crisis situation manuals for multi-use facilities are prepared, managed, and trained ▲compliance with laws regarding fire compartments, evacuation, escape routes, and electrical facilities ▲proper installation and operation of control panels and fire detectors ▲management status of sprinklers and fire hydrants.
To ensure thorough safety inspections, Seongnam City will also dispatch a safety management advisory group composed of experts in civil engineering, architecture, firefighting, and machinery to conduct on-site inspections.
A Seongnam City official stated, "We will strive to create an environment where citizens can visit with peace of mind by conducting thorough safety inspections of multi-use facilities vulnerable to fire, such as traditional markets, ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday."
