Jungnang-gu Strives to Create Safe Food for Vulnerable Groups

Strengthening Meal Safety Management for Children, Elderly, and Disabled... Budget for Vulnerable Group Meal Management Increased by 50 Million Won to 680 Million Won... Enhancing Safety and Nutrition Management in Social Welfare Facility Meal Services through Jungnang-gu Children's Meal Management Support Center

Jungnang-gu Strives to Create Safe Food for Vulnerable Groups Ryu Kyung-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu

Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) has allocated and is operating a safety support budget of 680 million KRW for 223 meal service facilities used by vulnerable groups such as children, the elderly, and people with disabilities.

This represents an increase of 50 million KRW compared to the previous year, aimed at further strengthening nutrition management for children, the elderly, and people with disabilities, as well as improving hygiene and safety in meal service facilities.

The district will support the safety and nutrition management of meal service centers installed in social welfare facilities through the Jungnang-gu Children's Meal Management Support Center (operated by Seoil University). It will provide customized menus and cooking methods considering nutritional status. Additionally, the center plans to enhance meal safety by directly visiting meal service centers and ensuring that cooks, directors, and teachers complete education programs tailored to their respective duties.

Ryu Kyung-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, stated, “By 2027, we aim to gradually expand social welfare meal support facilities to 35 locations to create a safe meal environment that all residents, including children, the elderly, and people with disabilities, can experience.” He added, “Through the expansion of social care, we will make Jungnang-gu the safest and warmest city in Seoul.”

The currently operating Jungnang-gu Children's Meal Management Support Center is scheduled to be integrated and operated as the Jungnang-gu Regional Meal Management Support Center from July 1st this year to provide more systematic management of small-scale meal facilities.
