On the 25th, the government includes Yeonsinnae Station and DMC Station in the new GTX-E line
Simultaneous preliminary feasibility study approval for the new GTX-E line within the term
Yeonsinnae Station expected to emerge as an economic and cultural hub with quadruple station area
Eunpyeong-gu (Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) announced on the 25th that Yeonsinnae Station and DMC Station have been included in the newly announced 2nd phase GTX-E line by the government.
The newly established GTX-E line is an extension of the existing Incheon~Daejang~Deokso route, with Yeonsinnae Station and DMC Station newly added. Additionally, Yeonsinnae Station is a station served by GTX-A, which is expected to greatly help in resolving transportation disparities.
The GTX-E line is reflected in the 5th National Railroad Network Plan, and to expedite the project, it is planned to simultaneously pass the preliminary feasibility study within the current government's term.
In particular, with the addition of GTX-E to Yeonsinnae Station, which will open GTX-A this year, it is expected to become a quadruple station area, fostering a large-scale economic complex connecting Bulgwang Station and Seoul Innovation Park. Eunpyeong-gu plans to promote the reorganization of the Yeonsinnae district unit plan and induce complex development linked to the station area to develop it as a representative economic and cultural hub in the northwest of Seoul.
DMC Station is also planned to play a central role in the development of the Susaek station area along with Line 6. Eunpyeong-gu plans to create a 'Second Times Square' on the Susaek station area site, including convention facilities, hotels, complex shopping malls, and performance halls, transforming the Susaek station area into a commercial, cultural, tourism, and transportation platform.
Kim Mi-kyung, Mayor of Eunpyeong-gu, said, “With the blueprint for transportation infrastructure encompassing east, west, south, and north centered on Eunpyeong-gu being drawn, we will widely promote excellent cultural contents such as the National Korean Literature Museum, Hanok Village, and Jingwansa Temple, and the construction of economic infrastructure such as Seoul Innovation Park site and Susaek station area will gain further momentum. We will also ensure the smooth progress of various cultural and economic priority projects currently underway in the district.”
