Through this MOU, both universities agreed to establish a systematic and comprehensive cooperative ecosystem and to join forces in the development of education, research, and incubating sectors. They also plan to collaborate on student exchange programs, joint entrepreneurship and innovation conferences, joint job creation development, global market entry, and sharing information on startup companies and educational environments in both countries.

Separately, the Gwangju University delegation visited CMC University, with which they signed an MOU last November, to hold additional discussions on student exchanges in the computer field and dual degree programs.

CMC University, which operates on a 3-year, 9-semester system, proposed a 2+1 model where Gwangju University professors would teach at CMC University for two years, followed by one year of instruction at Gwangju University.

In response, Vice President Kim Gap-yong of Gwangju University suggested promoting a 3+1 program allowing Gwangju University students to take classes at CMC University for one year as well, and proposed continuing detailed discussions after internal review.

Meanwhile, Gwangju University has been selected as an internationalization competency certified university by the Ministry of Education for 2023 to 2026, actively participating in education at advanced overseas universities, expanding sisterhood ties, international exchange activities, and attracting outstanding foreign students.

Foreign students applying to Gwangju University receive benefits such as visa issuance review and maximum stay period grants with only a standard admission letter. Prospective master's and doctoral students can obtain electronic visas regardless of nationality. Additional benefits include extra points for the Government Scholarship Program (GKS), preferential participation in overseas Korean study fairs, and simplified visa issuance procedures for foreign students.
