Exchanging Opinions on Expanding Membership and Collaborating with Local Companies in the Province
The Gwangyang Bay Area Free Economic Zone Authority (Commissioner Song Sang-rak, hereinafter referred to as Gwangyang Economic Authority) announced that on the 24th, it attended the inauguration and retirement ceremony of the Chairman of the Jeonnam Branch of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Korea held at the Gwangyang Rakhee Hotel and held a 'Meeting with Jeonnam Branch Member Companies.'
The Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Korea was established in 2001, centered on Chinese companies investing in Korea, and currently has about 200 member companies. It has its headquarters in Seoul and three branches in Jeonnam, Jeju, and Busan.
This year marks the third year since the establishment of the Jeonnam Branch. After the two-year term of CEO Hyun Se-wook, CEO L? Senyu (呂咸煜) of HAM (infant formula manufacturer) took over as the branch chairman.
The event was attended by Zhang Chenggang (張承剛), Consul General of China in Gwangju, and Yu Haiyan (兪海燕), Chairman of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Korea.
L? Senyu, the new chairman of the Jeonnam Branch, expressed his ambition, saying, "We will expand the member companies from the Gwangyang Bay Area to the entire Honam region and plan to hold regular investment and trade exchange meetings between member companies and companies within Jeonnam Province."
At the subsequent meeting with member companies, the Gwangyang Economic Authority shared economic cooperation efforts actively pursued with China, including the visit of Chinese Ambassador to Korea Xing Haiming (邢海明) to the Gwangyang Bay Area in March after the end of COVID-19 last year, the Jeonnam-Chinese-speaking Region Day event held in July, and six rounds of investment attraction activities targeting China.
They emphasized significant changes such as the start of production by member company POSCO HY Clean Metal, the expansion investment in the melting furnace of Gwangyang Aluminum, and the ongoing investment agreement with Narada Energy.
Additionally, the Jeonnam Branch actively exchanged opinions this year through the member network to revitalize economic and trade relations and expand investment attraction between the Gwangyang Bay Area and China.
Song Sang-rak, Commissioner of the Gwangyang Economic Authority, said, "The Gwangyang Economic Authority will continue to be a reliable partner for member companies and do its best to help their businesses succeed."
