Establishment of Fresh Seafood Distribution System
Consulting Pilot Project Results Presentation
Uljin-gun, Gyeongbuk Province is making every effort for a fisheries transformation project to develop the fishing industry, which is facing difficulties due to the decline in fishery resources and the increase in imported seafood.
The county is especially focusing on establishing a new distribution system as part of the fisheries transformation, and held a results briefing on the 22nd after conducting the "Fresh Seafood Distribution System Establishment Consulting Pilot Project."
The "Fresh Seafood Distribution System Establishment Consulting Pilot Project" aims to establish a stable supply chain and same-day delivery system for the metropolitan and inland areas, as well as to explore ways to create local jobs and revitalize the brand.
Since the pilot project began in June 2023, the county and the service provider have collaborated to segment packaging into Cambro boxes, silver foil boxes, Styrofoam boxes, etc., and divided delivery methods into express buses and refrigerated trucks, successfully processing over 100 same-day delivery orders.
Through this, they identified issues and established a basic plan to put the project on the right track.
Based on the results of this pilot project, Uljin-gun plans to build a distribution system that can coexist with local residents, particularly promoting a seafood delivery system to nearby mountainous areas to create jobs and secure sales channels for Uljin seafood.
County Governor Son Byeong-bok stated, "Through the phased promotion of the fresh seafood distribution system establishment project, we will do our best to innovate the seafood distribution sector so that it can become the cornerstone of the fisheries transformation, one of the main policy directions of the 8th elected administration."
