Seocho-gu Opens 'Seoripul Nori School Yangjae 1-dong Branch'

Seocho-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Jeon Seong-su) announced on the 25th that it will hold an opening ceremony for the public indoor playground ‘Seoripul Nori School Yangjae 1-dong Branch,’ where infants and toddlers can freely play without restrictions such as fine dust and weather, and will start operations from the 26th.

This ‘Seoripul Nori School Yangjae 1-dong Branch’ opens on the second floor of the Yangjae Public Parking Lot, which opened last September, reflecting residents’ opinions to expand cultural and leisure facilities for Yangjae and Naegok residents and to alleviate parking difficulties.

Following the Salon in Yangjaecheon Cafe, Seocho Single-Person Household Support Center, and Yangjae Maternal and Child Health Center, the opening of this Nori School completes a ‘new-concept complex cultural space’ that combines health, childcare, cultural complex facilities, and parking lot functions, fulfilling a long-standing wish of the residents.

In particular, by fully utilizing the designed space of the Yangjae Public Parking Lot, it is established on the largest scale of 654㎡ compared to existing Nori Schools, allowing infants and toddlers aged 0 to 5 to enjoy play activities more comfortably in a spacious indoor area.

Previously, the district opened the nation’s first public indoor playground ‘Seoripul Nori School No.1’ in Seocho-dong in 2019, followed by the ‘Bangbae SMART Seoripul Nori School’ incorporating ICT technology in 2021, and the park-type kids cafe ‘Seoripul Nori School Cultural Arts Park Branch’ in December last year, which are currently in operation.

Seoripul Nori School has been highly praised for its diverse play contents comparable to private kids cafes and its safe and hygienic management, establishing itself as a representative child-friendly brand of Seocho.

The interior space of the new ‘Seoripul Nori School Yangjae 1-dong Branch’ is designed to protect infants who are relatively vulnerable to safety accidents by separating the usage spaces for toddlers and infants to provide play areas suitable for developmental stages by age.

First, the toddler playground is equipped with play spaces for large muscle physical activities such as trampolines, climbing, balance beams, and stepping stones, as well as small muscle play areas like stick play, block play, and kitchen play, allowing toddlers to engage in active physical activities.

In particular, the small muscle play area features equipment using digital devices with art concepts such as ▲sketch art play ▲sand art ▲motion play to foster toddlers’ emotional intelligence and support emotional development.

Next, the infant playground consists of facilities where infants can play safely, such as slides, ball pools, hinoki pools, and block play, and a lounge is provided nearby where parents can rest while monitoring their children’s safety.

Additionally, various convenience and rest facilities are equipped, including a small lecture room for parent programs, diaper changing rooms, nursing rooms, and care spaces.

To ensure safe use of the play facilities for children, a total of six staff members, including one safety manager and five caregivers, are permanently assigned. For preschool children aged 36 months and older, a ‘play care service’ is also provided, where caregivers support safe play upon guardian request.

The operating hours of ‘Seoripul Nori School Yangjae 1-dong Branch’ are five days a week from Tuesday to Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., closed on Sundays, Mondays, and public holidays. It operates three sessions per day, each lasting two hours, with one hour of disinfection and cleaning after each session considering safety and hygiene.

Reservations can be made in advance from 15 days before the desired date of use through the ‘Seoul Our Neighborhood Care Portal,’ and the facility will be available from the 26th. For more details, inquiries can be made via the ‘Seoul Our Neighborhood Care Portal’ website or by phone (Seoripul Nori School Yangjae 1-dong Branch).

Jeon Seong-su, Mayor of Seocho-gu, said, “We will do our best to create a safe indoor play space that helps children grow bright and healthy, making Seocho a ‘child-rearing friendly district’ that satisfies both children and parents.”
