The Dementia Safety Center in Cheongsong-gun, Gyeongbuk, is conducting dementia screening tests for the elderly population at high risk of developing dementia.
Cheongsong-gun Dementia Safety Center is doing its best to eliminate blind spots in dementia screening by conducting on-site early dementia screening at senior centers.
This visiting early dementia screening project was initiated for seniors who find it difficult to visit the Dementia Safety Center directly. Starting from the Sannam area on the 3rd, it is being carried out sequentially by touring approximately 224 senior centers within the district until February.
The early dementia screening procedure proceeds in the order of dementia screening test, diagnostic test, and differential test. According to the test results, those in the normal group attend dementia prevention classes, those with mild cognitive impairment attend cognitive enhancement classes, and those diagnosed with dementia receive customized case management.
Early symptoms of dementia, such as memory decline and reduced language ability, may not be easily noticeable in daily life and are often overlooked, so regular testing and consultation are necessary.
Through this project, the Cheongsong-gun Dementia Safety Center aims to detect symptoms early and establish appropriate treatment and management strategies, marking an important start for the healthy and happy aging of Cheongsong residents.
Governor Yoon Kyung-hee stated, “Dementia is difficult to treat and often progresses rapidly, so prevention and early detection are very important,” adding, “We will do our best to raise awareness of early dementia screening and eliminate blind spots in screening.”
