Gyeongbuk Province, Education Office, Ulleung-gun, Support Office, and Handong University Unite... Stable Promotion of 'Ulleung-type Education Development Special Zone Pilot Project'

On the 23rd, Ulleung-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, signed a business agreement with Gyeongbuk Province and the Gyeongbuk Office of Education at the Ungbi Hall of the Gyeongbuk Office of Education to designate Ulleung-type Education Development Special Zone as a pilot area.

On the 23rd, Ulleung-gun signed a business agreement with Gyeongbuk Province, the Provincial Office of Education, and others at the Gyeongbuk Provincial Office of Education's Ungbi Hall to designate Ulleung-type Education Development Special Zone as a pilot area.

The signatory institutions agreed to mutually cooperate on major projects of the Ulleung-type Education Development Special Zone, such as establishing a local talent cultivation system and expanding support in the public education sector, by maximizing the capabilities and resources each institution possesses to ensure the stable promotion of the pilot project.

Ulleung-gun has prepared the education development special zone strategy with three pillars: ▲Digital education innovation for elementary, middle, and high schools ▲Leading the Ulleung learning community through university agreements ▲Establishing an integrated early childhood and DX education platform, and plans to implement nine tasks.

Nam Han-kwon, the county governor, stated, “The designation of Ulleung Education Development Special Zone as a pilot area is expected to be a significant turning point for Ulleung’s development and future education and industry. It will serve as an opportunity to establish a successful model of Neulbom education using school complex facilities and integrated early childhood education.” He emphasized, “We will join forces with the Office of Education, universities, and companies to create a virtuous cycle education system in Ulleung where local talents settle, find their dreams, and secure jobs.”

The first designation of the pilot area for the Education Development Special Zone is scheduled to be designated in early March after deliberation and resolution by the Local Era Committee, and the second designation will begin its application process from May after the first designation, going through the same procedure to be designated in July.

Ulleung-gun is focusing its administrative efforts to challenge the first round of designation as a pilot area and to be designated as such.

Additionally, the Ulleung-type Education Development Special Zone is collecting various opinions via the internet and mail until the end of January to reflect feedback that residents can feel.
