On the same day, Chairman Kang held a press conference at the Democratic Party Daegu City Party office in Jung-gu, Daegu, stating, "Boston, USA, does not have any special manufacturing industry, but it is engraved in the minds of people worldwide. This is because it is a city of education and culture. Boston is home to world-renowned universities such as Harvard, MIT, Wellesley College, and Berklee College of Music. It has the Boston Marathon, the Boston Red Sox (baseball team), the Boston Celtics (basketball team), and the Fine Arts Museum, one of the four major art museums in the United States." He added, "I want to make Suseong-gu the Boston of South Korea."

Chairman Kang worked at Samsung Electronics before retiring, then served as a member of the Daegu Suseong District Council and Daegu City Council, and later as a professor at Daekyung University.
