Opening of 'Virtual Training Center' in Pangyo GRC
Advanced Construction Equipment Operation Training and Product Verification
HD Hyundai Construction Equipment Division has opened a training center that uses virtual reality (VR) and digital twin technology to teach excavator operation and verify products.
HD Hyundai Site Solutions announced on the 23rd that it held an opening ceremony for the 'Virtual Training Center' at the HD Hyundai Global R&D Center (GRC) in Pangyo, Gyeonggi Province. The ceremony was attended by President Cho Young-cheol, President Lee Dong-wook, HD Hyundai Construction Equipment President Choi Cheol-gon, and HD Hyundai Infracore President Oh Seung-hyun, among others.
The center is equipped with 15 excavator RC models that apply the actual operating principles of construction equipment. It also features an indoor training ground scaled down to 1/14 of an actual worksite, a VR experience zone implemented inside an excavator cabin, and a remote control station for construction equipment.
When wearing VR goggles in the indoor training ground, users can operate the RC models from the same visual perspective as an actual equipment operator's seat.
In the VR experience zone, trainees can sit inside an excavator cabin and receive training to operate construction equipment in a virtual reality worksite. The screen provides guidance for the tasks. A system is also being established to remotely control actual construction equipment at domestic sites such as the Boryeong test site, located 130 km from the GRC.
HD Hyundai Site Solutions plans to conduct driving training for its employees here to increase their interest and understanding of construction equipment. Additionally, it aims to enhance product verification by utilizing digital twin technology.
They plan to evaluate products by operating digital twin models and RC models within the virtual space based on actual field work, and improve product quality using the data obtained.

We will strive to produce high-quality equipment by increasing employees' understanding and interest in construction equipment."
