Gyeonggi Province will invest a total construction cost of 232.2 billion KRW this year in 22 public building projects, including the Siheung Wolgot 119 Safety Center. In particular, 13 public buildings such as Hwaseong Ecopam Land are planned to complete construction within this year.
According to the Gyeonggi Provincial Construction Headquarters, the ‘Gyeonggi Organic Agricultural Industry Complex Center,’ which provides consumption, experience, and educational services for eco-friendly agricultural products all at once, will begin construction in March with a goal of completion by June next year. A total of 17.8 billion KRW will be invested in a 14,300㎡ site in Gonjiam-eup, Gwangju City.
Ecopam Land, developed on a 1,044,000㎡ site in the Hwaong Reclaimed Land area of Hwaseong City to increase farm income and create jobs through the development of agricultural and livestock tourism resources, is targeted for completion in June this year. A total of 80.5 billion KRW will be invested, and 45 buildings (1-2 floors) will be constructed, including a livestock R&D complex, a service dog sharing center, and a riding horse complex.
The Hwaseong Eastern Fire Station, which will serve the fire demand in the eastern region including Dongtan New Town in Hwaseong, will also be constructed in the Yeongcheon-dong area of Hwaseong City. Currently under design, construction will start in April and be completed by January 2026. The total floor area is 5,160㎡, with an investment of 21.4 billion KRW.
The Gyeonggi Provincial Construction Headquarters plans to regularize safety inspections to prepare for natural disasters such as thawing periods, wind and flood damage, heatwaves, and winter seasons, and maintain construction sites continuously to ensure safe public building construction this year. To prevent poor construction and improve construction quality, self-quality inspections involving private experts in each field will also be conducted for major processes such as framework construction.
Cheon Byeong-mun, Director of the Architecture and Facilities Division at the Gyeonggi Provincial Construction Headquarters, said, "Despite various systems to prevent construction accidents, unfortunate accidents caused by safety negligence occur every year," adding, "We will continuously inspect site safety management to keep construction workers vigilant and strive to establish a culture of construction safety in our society."
Meanwhile, the Gyeonggi Provincial Construction Headquarters completed 14 public buildings last year, including the Namhansanseong History and Culture Center (Gwangju), Gyeonggi Northern Nurim Center (Yangju), and dormitories at Gyeonggi Medical Center Icheon Hospital.
