The prosecution, investigating allegations that the Moon Jae-in administration manipulated national statistics such as housing prices, intensified the investigation by summoning former Blue House Policy Chief Kim Soo-hyun for questioning on the 22nd. Considering the upcoming general elections in April, the prosecution plans to complete the summons and questioning of all four policy chiefs from the Moon Jae-in administration and swiftly conclude the investigation.
The Criminal Division 4 of Daejeon District Prosecutors' Office (Chief Prosecutor Song Bong-jun) summoned former Policy Chief Kim, who is accused of abuse of authority, obstruction of rights, and violation of the Statistics Act, as a suspect for questioning on the same day.
The core of the allegations is that the Moon Jae-in administration's Blue House (Presidential Secretariat) and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport manipulated statistical figures at the Korea Real Estate Board at least 94 times from 2017 to 2021.
The investigation began after the Board of Audit and Inspection requested the prosecution to investigate 22 former government officials, including former Deputy Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Yoon Sung-won, former Administrator of the Administrative City Construction Agency Lee Moon-gi, and four former policy chiefs (Jang Ha-sung, Kim Soo-hyun, Kim Sang-jo, Lee Ho-seung) from the previous administration.
Recently, the prosecution has accelerated the investigation by summoning and questioning former Blue House Policy Chiefs Lee Ho-seung, Jang Ha-sung, Kim Sang-jo, and former Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Kim Hyun-mi.
