"No Election Interference by Public Officials" ... Changwon Teukrye-si Conducts Education on Prohibition of Election Involvement

Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam conducted a training session on April 22 at the City Hall Citizen Hall for over 200 employees to prohibit election-related conduct by public officials in preparation for the 22nd National Assembly election scheduled for April 10.

This training was organized to prevent violations of the Public Official Election Act that may occur during work activities as the election approaches, with the 90-day period before the election day having arrived.

The city invited Hong Seong-jin, Guidance Officer of the Seongsan District Election Commission, as the instructor to provide education focused on court precedents and cases, covering ▲the duty of election neutrality for public officials ▲restrictions and prohibitions under the Public Official Election Act ▲restrictions and prohibitions under the Political Parties Act and the Political Funds Act, helping public officials easily understand the legislative intent and meaning of related regulations.

Before the special lecture, First Deputy Mayor Jang Geum-yong said, “I hope today’s training will be a meaningful time to indirectly experience various cases of election-related conduct by public officials and resolve any questions through a Q&A session,” and emphasized, “In this National Assembly election, I ask all employees to take responsibility and comply with election-related regulations to ensure that not a single violation occurs.”

An employee who attended the training said, “Hearing explanations with legislative intent and real cases clearly resolved parts I did not understand,” and added, “It has created clearer standards for carrying out tasks such as event preparation.”

Meanwhile, the city plans to establish a plan to promote fair elections and foster a clean and transparent election atmosphere.
