Gurye Jiyok Jahwal Center Operates Free Meals at Senior Dining Hall

Providing Meals Three Times a Week for Low-Income Elderly

The Gurye Regional Self-Sufficiency Center in Jeonnam announced on the 22nd that it started providing free meals at the senior citizens' cafeteria from the 15th.


The Gurye Regional Self-Sufficiency Center offers free meals three times a week to low-income elderly people aged 60 or older who are in difficult financial situations or who may have to skip meals due to unavoidable circumstances.

Yang Cheol-seung, director of the Gurye Regional Self-Sufficiency Center, said, "By providing meals to elderly people at risk of missing meals, we are enhancing the level of support for senior meal services," adding, "We will make every effort to ensure that not only low-income groups but also elderly welfare can be further developed."


The Gurye Regional Self-Sufficiency Center helps low-income individuals with work ability by providing opportunities to work, thereby supporting a stable income base and promoting self-reliance and self-sufficiency.


The center currently operates eight business units (GateWay Business Unit, Jirisan Farmer Business Unit, Happiness Business Unit, Nature Storage, Cafe Dre, Sonnuri Business Unit, Rainbow Helper Business Unit, Sarangchandeul Business Unit), with about 40 people participating in the projects.
