On the 20th, a post titled "The home of a 20-something couple who ran away without paying rent" was uploaded to an online community. The author, Mr. A, who identified himself as the landlord, said, "The tenant did not answer for over a year, so I finally called a locksmith and opened the door," adding, "I’m sharing this because I experienced firsthand the condition of the house I had only heard about."

According to the photos attached by Mr. A, the living room was so full of various household items and trash that it was difficult to open the windows. The bathroom was piled high with worn clothes, and food was scattered everywhere, leaving no space to step. Inside a pet enclosure, presumably for a cat, there was a large accumulation of neglected animal waste. Mr. A said, "I stepped on the waste while taking pictures, so I’m going to buy a lottery ticket tomorrow," and added, "People who keep animals shouldn’t rent out their place to tenants like this."

Netizens who read the story reacted with comments such as, "I hope the identities of such shameless people are revealed," "They can’t even manage themselves but are raising a cat too," and "What’s the difference between them and the cat? The cat is probably cleaner."

Meanwhile, under current law, landlords cannot enter a tenant’s property or forcibly remove belongings while the lease contract is still in effect. If such actions are taken, the landlord could be charged with trespassing. Article 640 of the Civil Act states that in the case of housing, the contract can be terminated if the tenant has failed to pay rent two or more times. Whether to deduct from the security deposit is up to the landlord, who may terminate the lease contract due to rent arrears without deducting from the deposit and demand the tenant to vacate the leased property.
